Laravel cron and queue monitoring tools

The best tool depends on which failure you need to catch.

Compare eight documented options across dead-man checks, Laravel telemetry, Redis queue operations, output validation, uptime, status communication, deployment, and price.

Direct answer

There is no universal “best” cron monitor.

For deep Laravel application telemetry, start with Nightwatch. For operating Redis queues, start with Horizon. For a simple framework-neutral dead-man switch, Healthchecks.io is the clearest focused option in this set.

For a broader website-health suite that includes cron, consider Oh Dear; for a wider framework-neutral monitoring service, consider Cronitor. For Laravel/Horizon internals with self-hosting, evaluate Crontinel while verifying its inconsistent public pricing copy.

When “the process exited successfully” is not enough, compare LatidoFlow and DeadManCheck around output assertions. LatidoFlow’s distinct emphasis is combining selected job lifecycle and outcome failures with uptime incidents and a public component status surface.

Requirements-first matrix

Compare the operating question before the feature count.

Prices below are monthly list-price snapshots from August 1, 2026 unless stated otherwise. Verify vendor terms before purchasing.

Tool Best documented fit Primary evidence or control Operating model Entry pricing signal
LatidoFlow Recurring-work acceptance, incident evidence, and public component health Heartbeats, allowlisted job lifecycle events, numeric output assertions, and HTTP uptime probes Separate service; direct HTTP integration is available. A public clean install of the repository Laravel package is not verified A free workspace is available. Paid self-service activation is not complete; plan limits cover monitor capacity and evidence retention
Laravel Nightwatch Broad Laravel-native application telemetry and execution traces Automatic Laravel events including requests, queries, logs, exceptions, jobs, and scheduled tasks Fully managed service with application agent Free: 300k events / 14 days; paid plans start at $20/month
Laravel Horizon Operating Laravel Redis queues and workers Queue throughput, runtime, failures, wait time, worker configuration, and balancing MIT package operated with your application No package license fee; infrastructure and operations remain yours
Cronitor Framework-neutral job, heartbeat, website/API, RUM, and status monitoring Job lifecycle telemetry, schedule tolerances, heartbeats, active checks, and alerts Managed service Free: 5 monitors; Business: $2/monitor/month plus $5/dashboard user/month
Healthchecks.io Simple dead-man-switch monitoring across languages and platforms Simple, cron-expression, or calendar schedules with success, start, fail, and exit-status pings Managed service or open-source self-hosting Free: 20 jobs; Business: $20/month for 100; Business Plus: $80/month for 1,000
Oh Dear A broad website-health suite that also monitors scheduled tasks Uptime, API, application health, scheduled-task pings, SSL, DNS, links, Lighthouse, and status pages Managed service No permanent free plan; 10-day trial; Solo starts at €15/month for 2 sites or servers
Crontinel Laravel-native scheduler, queue depth/age, worker, and Horizon supervisor visibility Framework events and queue/Horizon state, plus hosted or local dashboards MIT self-hosted package or managed service Dedicated pricing page: Free, Pro $19.99/month, Team $49.99/month; see conflict note below
DeadManCheck Framework-neutral dead-man checks with output and duration validation Ping, start/end, failure, numeric output assertions, uptime, status pages, and Prometheus metrics Managed service or open-source self-hosting Free: 5 monitors; Pro: $29/month for unlimited monitors

Fast shortlist

Match the requirement to the strongest documented fit.

These are starting points, not rankings. Validate the shortlisted product against your own environment, volume, alert path, and failure scenarios.

Deep Laravel traces across requests, queries, jobs, and scheduled tasks

Laravel Nightwatch

Operate Redis workers, balancing, throughput, and queue wait time

Laravel Horizon

Prove selected recurring work completed with acceptable numeric output

LatidoFlow or DeadManCheck

Simple, framework-neutral dead-man switch with a generous free tier

Healthchecks.io

Broad framework-neutral job monitoring plus active checks, RUM, and status pages

Cronitor

Website health, SSL, DNS, links, Lighthouse, status, and cron in one suite

Oh Dear

Laravel/Horizon internals with a self-hosted package option

Crontinel

Combine background-work incidents with HTTP uptime on one customer-safe component surface

LatidoFlow

Source conflict

Crontinel publishes inconsistent pricing and free-tier details.

The dedicated pricing page lists Pro at $19.99/month and Team at $49.99/month; its Free plan allows one owner and excludes Slack/email alerts. The homepage rounds the paid prices to $19 and $49 and says the Free plan includes all alert channels and team access.

This guide uses the dedicated pricing page for the matrix but does not treat the conflicting entitlements as resolved. Confirm the actual checkout and account limits with Crontinel before making a purchase decision.

Where LatidoFlow is differentiated

One incident model for completion, output, uptime, and status.

A selected workflow can fail because it missed its schedule, stayed queued past its start SLA, reported a failure, or succeeded with numeric output that violates an assertion. HTTP uptime checks can affect the same public component status model.

Where LatidoFlow is limited

It is not full APM or a queue operations console.

LatidoFlow does not provide broad request/query tracing or configure and balance workers. Its queue lifecycle path covers explicitly allowlisted job classes and is intended for low-volume business-critical jobs, not every queue event. Public status pages show incident updates on-page but do not currently deliver public subscriber email updates. Paid self-service activation is not complete, and the repository Laravel package has not been verified as a public clean install; direct HTTP ingestion is the established integration path.

Before you buy

Run the same four failures through every finalist.

  1. 1

    Missing run

Stop the scheduler and measure detection, grace handling, incident context, and recovery.

  2. 2

    Reported queued, not started

Dispatch a critical job without starting it and verify whether the tool distinguishes wait from execution failure.

  3. 3

    Green exit, wrong output

Return success with zero processed records and verify whether an explicit result rule can reject it.

  4. 4

    HTTP green, worker red

Keep the endpoint healthy while background work fails and inspect alert and status communication.
